Gronk's impact on Buccaneers betting odds

The day after Super Bowl LIV, the Buccaneers were 66/1 longshots to win the championship in 2020.

As the Tom Brady to Tampa rumors swirled, bookies dropped the Bucs' odds to 33/1, then to 25/1 and finally 20/1, after the free agent acquisition became official.

Bettors flocking to back Brady and the Bucs pushed the team's Super Bowl odds even further down, dropping to as low as 14/1 as of last week.

And according to the latest numbers from SportsBetting.ag on Wednesday morning, following the trade for Rob Gronkowski, the Bucs are now one of the top three favorites to win Super Bowl LV. Here are the five teams with the best odds:

However, a representative from the sportsbook suggests that the Gronkowski trade didn't really impact the odds for anything other than public perception.

"Bettors react to big news and Gronk coming out of retirement to reunite with his quarterback is big news," Robert Cooper, odds manager at SportsBetting.ag, said. "We have to move the odds because we anticipate additional action from bettors, but in terms of the algorithms and power rankings we use to formulate the numbers Gronk doesn't move the needle."

Another online sportsbook, BetOnline.ag, did not adjust their Bucs Super Bowl odds, leaving them at 15/1.
